Foguang Temple
Digital Heritage & Public Interpretation
World Heritage Volunteer Project 2026.8
Site: Xinzhou, China
I participated in a World Heritage project at Foguang Temple, one of China’s important historic Buddhist sites, where I contributed to heritage documentation, interpretation, and public outreach.
The experience led me to explore how digital media can create new ways of communicating architectural heritage beyond conventional documentation. As part of this work, I developed an interactive postcard for the Founder’s Pagoda, experimenting with digital interaction to connect visitors and broader audiences with the site’s architectural and historical information.
Rather than treating digital representation simply as a record of the existing building, I became interested in how the choice of medium, interface, and interaction can influence what people notice, understand, and remember about heritage.
This experience became an early starting point for my ongoing research on the relationship between digital representation, public access, and the perception of historic architecture.
